The Giles Spartans football team (Pearisburg, VA), was beaten 36-20 in Saturday's league challenge with the host Fort Chiswell Pioneers (Max Meadows, VA)

The Pioneers (1-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Auburn (Riner, VA). The Eagles come into the Mountain Empire challenge with a 0-3 record. In their last challenge, Auburn was beaten by Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA), 20-13, in a non-league challenge.

The Spartans now sport a 2-3 record. They take the field next when they host North Cross for a non-league challenge on Friday, October 7.
