The Leake County Gators were winner over the visiting Newton Tigers football squad by a margin of 46-16 in Thursday's non-league test.

The Gators now sport a 1-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Nanih Waiya for a 1A Region 5 test on Friday, October 3. Leake County will meet a Warriors squad coming off a 42-0 non-league win over French Camp Academy (French Camp, MS). The Warriors record now stands at 2-2.

With the loss, Newton falls to 1-4 on the year. The Tigers host Lake (Lake, MS) to face the Hornets in a 2A Region 5 challenge on Friday, October 3. The Hornets enter the challenge with a record of 2-3. Lake lost 35-22 in their recent non-league challenge against Union (Union, MS)
