South Carolina High School Football - Augusta Christian can't hold off Cardinal Newman
September 26, 2025: Columbia, SC 29223 Cardinal Newman Cardinals (Columbia, SC) followers went home in high spirits Friday as they saw their football team tip the visiting Augusta Christian Lions (Martinez, GA), 14-9 in a league battle.
With the win, Cardinal Newman advances its record to 1-5 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Northwood Academy (Charleston, SC) to play the Chargers in a SCISA 4A battle on Friday, October 3. The Chargers go into the battle with a record of 5-1. Northwood Academy won 23-10 in their recent league battle against Hammond (Columbia, SC)
The Lions now own a 0-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Heathwood Hall Episcopal for a SCISA 4A test on Friday, October 3. Augusta Christian will meet a Highlanders squad coming off a 22-21 league win over Porter-Gaud (Charleston, SC). The Highlanders record now stands at 4-2.
