The Mountain Brook Spartans edged the host Homewood Patriots football team by a score of 25-24 in Friday's non-league outing.

The Spartans now sport a 4-2 record. They take the field next when they host Clay-Chalkville for a 6A Region 6 outing on Friday, October 3. Mountain Brook will clash with a Cougars squad coming off a 28-24 non-league win over Thompson (Alabaster, AL). The Cougars record now stands at 6-0.

With the defeat, Homewood drops to 5-1 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Gardendale (Gardendale, AL) to battle the Rockets in a 6A Region 5 game on Friday, October 3. The Rockets enter the game with a record of 1-5. Gardendale lost 49-14 in their recent non-league game against Central (Tuscaloosa, AL)
