The crowd at Thursday's non-league bout between the Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC) and the host Highlands Highlanders (Highlands, NC), saw Smoky Mountain's volleyball squad nip Highlands by a tally of 2-1.

With the win, Smoky Mountain upgrades its record to 6-9 on the year. The Mustangs travel to Franklin (Franklin, NC) to play the Panthers in a bout on Tuesday, October 4. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 17-1. Franklin won 2-0 in their recent league bout against North Henderson (Hendersonville, NC)
