The Gaston Day Spartans (Gastonia, NC) volleyball tipped the host Carmel Christian Cougars (Matthews, NC), 3-2 in Thursday's non-league outing.

With the win, Gaston Day upgrades its record to 9-19 on the year. The Spartans travel to Hickory Grove Christian (Charlotte, NC) to face the Lions in a NCISAA Metrolina outing on Tuesday, October 4. The Lions go into the outing with a record of 10-9. Hickory Grove Christian won 3-0 in their recent league outing against Northside Christian Academy (Charlotte, NC)
