In Friday's non-league match, the host Ariton Purple Cats football squad scored a good 34-21 victory over the Straughn Tigers.

In their next game, the Purple Cats clash with the Cottonwood Bears (Cottonwood, AL) in a 2A Region 2 match, on Friday, October 6. Ariton will attempt to move on its 3-3 season record. The Bears enter the match with a 4-0 record after their 47-0 league win over Samson (Samson, AL).
