In Friday's league match, the host Axtell Longhorns football squad scored a close 28-21 victory over the Kerens Bobcats.

In their next game, the Longhorns clash with the Rio Vista Eagles (Rio Vista, TX) in a 2A-1 Region II District 7 match, on Friday, October 7. Axtell will attempt to move on its 3-2 season record. The Eagles enter the match with a 1-4 record after their 29-22 league loss to Italy (Italy, TX).
