Texas High School Basketball - Jayton tops Brownwood
January 10, 2023: Jayton, TX 79528 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Jayton Jaybirds (Jayton, TX) and the visiting Brownwood Lions (Brownwood, TX), saw Jayton's basketball squad knock off Brownwood by a tally of 63-49.
With the victory, Jayton improves its record to 14-1 on the campaign. The Jaybirds host Guthrie (Guthrie, TX) to play the Jaguars in a 1A Region I District 5 challenge on Friday, January 13. The Jaguars come into the challenge with a record of 0-8.
Next up, the Lions play the Graham Steers (Graham, TX) in a 4A Region I District 6 challenge, on Friday, January 13. Brownwood will attempt to improve on its 10-12 season record. The Steers come into the challenge with a 13-11 record after their 72-60 non-league win over Gainesville (Gainesville, TX).
