Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Gila Ridge Hawks (Yuma, AZ) and the visiting Alhambra Lions (Phoenix, AZ), saw Gila Ridge's basketball squad knock off Alhambra by a tally of 58-41.

With the victory, Gila Ridge improves its record to 4-4 on the campaign. The Hawks host San Luis (San Luis, AZ) to play the Sidewinders in a 6A Desert Southwest challenge on Friday, January 13. The Sidewinders come into the challenge with a record of 1-8. San Luis lost 43-17 in their recent non-league challenge against San Pasqual Valley (Winterhaven, CA)

Next up, the Lions play the Camelback Spartans (Phoenix, AZ) in a 6A Metro challenge, on Friday, January 13. Alhambra will attempt to improve on its 2-12 season record. The Spartans come into the challenge with a 0-8 record after their 61-24 non-league loss to Desert Ridge (Mesa, AZ).
