The Martins Ferry Purple Riders basketball team scored 35 points and held the visiting Barnesville Shamrocks to 26 in the Purple Riders non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Purple Riders now sport a 9-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Monroe Central for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 14. Martins Ferry will battle a Seminoles team coming off a 47-31 league loss to Frontier (New Matamoras, OH). The Seminoles record now stands at 9-4.

The Shamrocks (4-10) will now prepare for their contest against Linsly (Wheeling, WV). The Cadets enter the non-league contest with a 7-7 record. In their last contest, Linsly ran past Brooke (Wellsburg, WV), 53-41, in a non-league contest.
