The Pine Tree Pirates basketball team scored 62 points and held the visiting Marshall Mavericks to 54 in the Pirates league triumph on Friday.

The Pirates now sport a 8-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Whitehouse for a 5A Region II District 15 contest on Thursday, January 18. Pine Tree will meet a Wildcats team coming off a 78-39 league loss to Hallsville (Hallsville, TX). The Wildcats record now stands at 5-15.

The Mavericks (6-14) will now prepare for their contest against Mt. Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, TX). The Tigers enter the 5A Region II District 15 contest with a 18-6 record. In their last contest, Mt. Pleasant was defeated by Longview (Longview, TX), 44-39, in a league contest.
