Academy of the New Church Lions (Bryn Athyn, PA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Friends Select (Philadelphia, PA), 61-18 in a league bout.

With the win, Academy of the New Church upgrades its record to 10-4 on the season. The Lions travel to George School (Newtown, PA) to clash with the Cougars in a Friends Schools bout on Tuesday, January 16. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 8-6. George School lost 64-49 in their recent non-league bout against Abington (Abington, PA)

Next up, the clash with the Friends' Central (Wynnewood, PA) in a Friends Schools bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Friends Select will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The go into the bout with a 16-5 record after their 63-58 non-league win over St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD).
