Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Central Valley Cougars (Greeley, NE) and the visiting Anselmo-Merna Coyotes (Merna, NE), observed Central Valley's basketball team nudge Anselmo-Merna by a final score of 43-40.

In their next game, the Cougars face the St. Edward Beavers (St. Edward, NE) in a non-league game, on Saturday, January 14. Central Valley will attempt to move on its 3-8 season record. The Beavers enter the game with a 1-11 record after their 43-33 non-league loss to Heartland Lutheran (Grand Island, NE).
