January 14, 2023: Pine River, MN 56474 The Pine River-Backus Tigers (Pine River, MN) basketball felled the visiting Cherry Tigers (Iron, MN), 61-49 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Tigers (6-3) will now prepare for their test against Laporte (Laporte, MN). The Wildcats go into the A Section 5 test with a 0-8 record. In their last test, Laporte was beaten by Kelliher/Northome (Northome, MN), 97-13, in a non-league test.
The Tigers now own a 3-9 record. They play next when they travel to Littlefork-Big Falls for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 17. Cherry will encounter a Vikings squad coming off a 89-16 non-league loss to North Woods (Cook, MN). The Vikings record now stands at 1-9.
