Mississippi High School Basketball - Lawrence County holds off West Marion
January 15, 2024: Monticello, MS 39654 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Lawrence County Cougars (Monticello, MS) and the visiting West Marion Trojans (Foxworth, MS), saw Lawrence County's basketball squad hold off West Marion by a tally of 59-56.
With the victory, Lawrence County improves its record to 7-14 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Columbia (Columbia, MS) to confront the Wildcats in a 4A Region 7 challenge on Tuesday, January 16. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a record of 9-8. Columbia won 65-41 in their recent non-league challenge against Poplarville (Poplarville, MS)
Next up, the Trojans confront the Tylertown Chiefs (Tylertown, MS) in a 3A Region 8 challenge, on Tuesday, January 16. West Marion will attempt to improve on its 2-14 season record. The Chiefs come into the challenge with a 9-3 record after their 77-69 league win over Perry Central (New Augusta, MS).
