Nevada High School Basketball - Cimarron-Memorial thwarts Cheyenne
January 15, 2024: North Las Vegas, NV 89032 The Cimarron-Memorial Spartans (Las Vegas, NV) basketball knocked off the host Cheyenne Desert Shields (North Las Vegas, NV), 49-40 in Monday's non-league test.
The Spartans (3-9) will now prepare for their test against Chaparral (Las Vegas, NV). The Cowboys go into the non-league test with a 1-2 record. In their last test, Chaparral went down by Legacy (North Las Vegas, NV), 68-56, in a non-league test.
The Desert Shields now own a 1-2 record. They play next when they host Somerset Sky Pointe for a test on Wednesday, January 24.
First Quarter
The Spartans opened the game with 3 - 3-Point Baskets. Two from Guard Joseph Noel & one from Center Rashad Moore. Cimarron took an early lead with their Full Court Press which gave Cheyenne huge problems as they continued to throw the ball away.
Second Quarter
Cheyenne fought back by hitting a couple of 3-Point Baskets, & each team scored 14 points for the quarter. Chazmier, one of the Spartans Small Forwards made two very important layups while attacking the basket to keep Cimarron in the Lead.
Third Quarter
The Spartans outscored Cheyenne 12-11 in the quarter extending their lead to 40 to 34.
Fourth Quarter
In the Final Quarter the Spartans played excellent lock down defense & held Cheyenne to only 6 points in the 4th. The Spartans force over 35 Turnovers by Cheyenne & had 27 steals for the game.
