January 16, 2024: Mattoon, IL 61938 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Mattoon Greenwave (Mattoon, IL) and the visiting Greenville Comets (Greenville, IL), saw Mattoon's basketball squad hold off Greenville by a tally of 54-47.
With the victory, Mattoon improves its record to 12-8 on the campaign. The Greenwave travel to Triad (Troy, IL) to play the Knights in a non-league challenge on Friday, January 19. The Knights come into the challenge with a record of 13-6. Triad won 44-29 in their recent non-league challenge against Nokomis (Nokomis, IL)
Next up, the Comets play the Nokomis Redskins (Nokomis, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Thursday, January 18. Greenville will attempt to improve on its 13-7 season record. The Redskins come into the challenge with a 11-10 record after their 44-29 non-league loss to Triad (Troy, IL).
