In Thursday's league contest, the visiting St. Mary's Pirates basketball team scored a big 53-30 triumph over the Rye Thunderbolts.

The Pirates (5-3) will now prepare for their contest against La Junta (La Junta, CO). The Tigers go into the 4A/3A Tri-Peaks contest with a 4-6 record. In their last contest, La Junta was trounced by Lamar (Lamar, CO), 59-24, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Thunderbolts confront the Ellicott Thunderhawks (Calhan, CO) in a 4A/3A Tri-Peaks contest, on Saturday, January 18. Rye will attempt to better on its 4-5 season record. The Thunderhawks go into the contest with a 8-1 record after their 73-4 non-league win over Liberty Tree Academy (Peyton, CO).
