Varsity Opponent (, ) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Covenant Life Cougars (Gaithersburg, MD), 63-57 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Varsity Opponent upgrades its record to 264-817 on the campaign. The host Luther (Maspeth, NY) to play the Cougars in a PSAL Area NYSAIS PSAA - Western bout on Tuesday, January 17.
