The Gretna East Griffins (Gretna, NE) basketball were winner over the host Grand Island Islanders (Grand Island, NE), 59-44 in Friday's non-league bout.

The Griffins now possess a 8-5 record. They play next when they travel to Elkhorn for a B District 3 bout on Thursday, January 23. Gretna East will play a Antlers team coming off a 71-60 league loss to Elkhorn North (Elkhorn, NE). The Antlers record now stands at 5-6.

With the loss, Grand Island falls to 5-8 on the campaign. The Islanders travel to Omaha Northwest (Omaha, NE) to play the Huskies in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 18.
