In Friday's non-league contest, the host Yuma Criminals basketball team scored a close 59-53 triumph over the Gila Ridge Hawks.

The Criminals (2-0) will now prepare for their contest against Cortez (Phoenix, AZ). The Colts go into the contest with a 6-4 record. In their last contest, Cortez nipped Desert Sunrise (Maricopa, AZ), 50-38, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Hawks battle the Camelback Spartans (Phoenix, AZ) in a non-league contest, on Friday, January 31. Gila Ridge will attempt to better on its 2-7 season record.
