The Goldsboro Cougars basketball team scored 71 points and held the visiting New Bern Bears to 59 in the Cougars non-league triumph on Wednesday.

The Cougars now sport a 15-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Spring Creek for a 2A Conference 8 contest on Friday, January 20. Goldsboro will meet a Gators team coming off a 77-21 league loss to Princeton (Princeton, NC). The Gators record now stands at 2-14.

The Bears (9-8) will now prepare for their contest against Havelock (Havelock, NC). The Rams enter the 3A/4A Conference 19 contest with a 1-16 record. In their last contest, Havelock was outscored by West Carteret (Morehead City, NC), 71-54, in a non-league contest.
