The El Capitan Gauchos defeated the host Independence Falcons basketball squad by a final score of 60-47 in Saturday's non-league outing.

Next, the Gauchos clash with the Atwater Falcons (Atwater, CA) in a Central California Conference outing, on Wednesday, January 22. El Capitan will attempt to upgrade on its 12-7 season record. The Falcons come into the outing with a 18-2 record after their 55-44 league loss to Golden Valley (Merced, CA).

The Falcons (13-7) will now prepare for their outing against Bakersfield Christian (Bakersfield, CA). The Eagles come into the South Yosemite - Valley outing with a 14-7 record. In their last outing, Bakersfield Christian was defeated by Palisades (Pacific Palisades, CA), 56-48, in a non-league outing.
