North Carolina High School Basketball - Westover can't hold off Providence
January 18, 2025: Charlotte, NC 28270 Providence Panthers (Charlotte, NC) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the visiting Westover Wolverines (Fayetteville, NC), 70-65 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Providence advances its record to 5-13 on the year. The Panthers travel to Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, NC) to face the Cougars in a 4A Southwestern match on Friday, January 24. The Cougars enter the match with a record of 14-4. Charlotte Catholic lost 64-57 in their recent non-league match against Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC)
The Wolverines now own a 10-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to New Life Christian Academy for a non-league match on Monday, January 20. Westover will face a Monarchs squad coming off a 85-80 non-league loss to Elevation Prep Academy (Charlotte, NC). The Monarchs record now stands at 10-14.
