January 18, 2025: Waynesboro, MS 39367 Wayne County War Eagles (Waynesboro, MS) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting Taylorsville Tartars (Taylorsville, MS), 62-32 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Wayne County advances its record to 12-9 on the year. The War Eagles host Laurel (Laurel, MS) to meet the Golden Tornadoes in a 5A Region 4 match on Tuesday, January 21. The Golden Tornadoes enter the match with a record of 16-7. Laurel won 70-62 in their recent non-league match against Bay Springs (Bay Springs, MS)
The Tartars now own a 6-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host Southeast Lauderdale for a non-league match on Monday, January 20. Taylorsville will meet a Tigers squad coming off a 51-45 league win over McLaurin (Florence, MS). The Tigers record now stands at 11-6.
