Georgia High School Basketball - Burke County succumbs to Screven County

January 18, 2025: Sylvania, GA 30467

In Saturday's non-league test, the Screven County Gamecocks (Sylvania, GA) basketball squad defeated the visiting Burke County Bears (Waynesboro, GA), by a final score of 65-50.

Next, the Gamecocks clash with the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs (Twin City, GA) in a A D2 Region 3 test, on Friday, January 24. Screven County will attempt to upgrade on its 12-4 season record.

The Bears (6-7) will now prepare for their test against Laney (Augusta, GA). The Wildcats go into the AA Region 4 contest with a 9-9 record. In their last contest, Laney topped Hephzibah (Hephzibah, GA), 70-57, in a non-league contest.
