January 19, 2023: Russian Mission, AK 99657 The Russian Mission Brown Bears (Russian Mission, AK) basketball nipped the visiting Akiak Thunderbolts (Akiak, AK), 41-38 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Brown Bears (1-1) will now prepare for their test against Aniak (Aniak, AK). The Halfbreeds go into the non-league test with a 1-0 record. In their last test, Aniak got by Kalskag (Upper Kalskag, AK), 54-39, in a league test.
The Thunderbolts now own a 0-5 record. They play next when they travel to Kalskag for a 1A Greater Kuskokwim test on Friday, January 20. Akiak will encounter a Grizzly Bears squad coming off a 54-39 league loss to Aniak (Aniak, AK). The Grizzly Bears record now stands at 0-1.
