The Marysville Monarchs basketball team scored 72 points and held the visiting Bellefontaine Chieftains to 49 in the Monarchs non-league triumph on Monday.

The Monarchs now sport a 4-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Marion Harding for a non-league contest on Saturday, January 7.

The Chieftains (4-5) will now prepare for their contest against Kenton Ridge (Springfield, OH). The Cougars enter the Central Buckeye - Kenton Trail contest with a 5-3 record. In their last contest, Kenton Ridge was routed by Tippecanoe (Tipp City, OH), 53-35, in a non-league contest.
