In Thursday's non-league test, the McDowell Titans (Marion, NC) basketball squad trounced the host Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC), by a score of 56-29.

Next, the Titans encounter the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) in a non-league test, on Friday, January 3. McDowell will attempt to improve on its 7-0 season record. The Spartans come into the test with a 6-3 record after their 54-41 non-league loss to St. Stephens (Hickory, NC).

The Vikings (3-4) will now prepare for their test against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Cougars come into the non-league test with a 0-6 record. In their last test, Mountain Heritage was routed by Owen (Black Mountain, NC), 52-45, in a non-league test.
