Virginia High School Basketball - Middlesex nips Essex

January 21, 2023: Tappahannock, VA 22560

Middlesex Chargers (Saluda, VA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Essex Trojans (Tappahannock, VA), 59-54 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Middlesex upgrades its record to 14-2 on the campaign. The Chargers travel to King & Queen Central (King & Queen Court House, VA) to play the Royal Tigers in a Tidewater bout on Tuesday, January 24. The Royal Tigers come into the bout with a record of 2-8. King & Queen Central lost 86-53 in their recent non-league bout against Northampton (Eastville, VA)

Next up, the Trojans play the Lancaster Red Devils (Lancaster, VA) in a Northern Neck bout, on Tuesday, January 24. Essex will attempt to upgrade on its 7-7 season record. The Red Devils come into the bout with a 13-0 record after their 78-33 league win over Rappahannock (Warsaw, VA).
