Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Avonworth holds off Hopewell
January 22, 2022: Pittsburgh, PA 15237 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Avonworth Antelopes (Pittsburgh, PA) and the visiting Hopewell Vikings (Aliquippa, PA), saw Avonworth's basketball squad hold off Hopewell by a tally of 43-38.
With the victory, Avonworth improves its record to 11-1 on the campaign. The Antelopes host South Allegheny (McKeesport, PA) to battle the Gladiators in a WPIAL 3A 3 contest on Monday, January 24. The Gladiators come into the contest with a record of 7-8.
The Vikings (2-6) will now prepare for their contest against Blackhawk (Beaver Falls, PA). The Cougars come into the WPIAL 4A 2 contest with a 13-0 record. In their last contest, Blackhawk edged New Castle (New Castle, PA), 82-32, in a league contest.
