Virginia High School Basketball - Monroe edges Byrd
January 22, 2022: Stanardsville, VA 22973 The Monroe Dragons (Stanardsville, VA) basketball nipped the visiting Byrd Terriers (Vinton, VA), 46-44 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Dragons (5-4) will now prepare for their test against Brentsville District (Nokesville, VA). The Tigers go into the Northwestern test with a 8-2 record. In their last test, Brentsville District was tipped by Meridian (Falls Church, VA), 59-32, in a league test.
The Terriers now own a 7-8 record. They play next when they host Staunton River for a Blue Ridge test on Tuesday, January 25. Byrd will encounter a Golden Eagles squad coming off a 54-28 non-league win over Liberty (Bedford, VA). The Golden Eagles record now stands at 14-0.
