New Mexico High School Basketball - Capitan over Mountainair
January 23, 2024: Mountainair, NM 87036 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Capitan Tigers (Capitan, NM) and the host Mountainair Mustangs (Mountainair, NM), saw Capitan's basketball squad overcome Mountainair by a tally of 44-25.
With the victory, Capitan improves its record to 6-12 on the campaign. The Tigers travel to Lordsburg (Lordsburg, NM) to confront the Mavericks in a 2A District 3 challenge on Saturday, January 27. The Mavericks come into the challenge with a record of 8-9. Lordsburg lost 41-32 in their recent non-league challenge against Animas (Animas, NM)
Next up, the Mustangs confront the Alamo Navajo Cougars (Magdalena, NM) in a A District 3 challenge, on Thursday, January 25. Mountainair will attempt to improve on its 6-11 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 9-8 record after their 41-35 league loss to Corona/Vaughn (Corona, NM).
