The crowd at Thursday's league challenge between the Hoover Huskies (Clendenin, WV) and the host Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV), observed Hoover's basketball team edge Independence by a score of 46-41.

The Huskies (4-7) will now prepare for their challenge against Sissonville (Charleston, WV). The Indians come into the Cardinal challenge with a 10-2 record. In their last challenge, Sissonville edged PikeView (Princeton, WV), 59-55, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Patriots encounter the PikeView Panthers (Princeton, WV) in a Coalfield AA challenge, on Monday, January 27. Independence will attempt to improve on its 4-6 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 6-7 record after their 59-55 non-league loss to Sissonville (Charleston, WV).
