Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) supporters left the game satisfied Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the visiting Asheville Christian Academy Lions (Swannanoa, NC), 42-35 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Avery County advances its record to 6-5 on the year. The Vikings travel to Owen (Black Mountain, NC) to face the Warhorses in a non-league match on Wednesday, January 29. The Warhorses enter the match with a record of 6-5. Owen lost 70-53 in their recent non-league match against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC)

The Lions now own a 1-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Christ School for a match on Tuesday, January 28. Asheville Christian Academy will face a Greenies squad coming off a 39-31 non-league win over Legion Collegiate Academy (Rock Hill, SC). The Greenies record now stands at 8-2.
