In Thursday's non-league match, the host Lawrence Central Bears basketball team scored a tight 79-74 triumph over the Avon Orioles.

In their next game, the Bears meet the Cathedral Fighting Irish (Indianapolis, IN) in a non-league match, on Wednesday, February 2. Lawrence Central will attempt to move on its 12-10 season record.
