Illinois High School Basketball - Carlinville nips Southwestern
January 27, 2022: Carlinville, IL 62626 Fans at Thursday's league challenge between the Carlinville Cavaliers (Carlinville, IL) and the visiting Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL), saw Carlinville's basketball squad hold off Southwestern by a tally of 26-24.
With the victory, Carlinville improves its record to 12-11 on the campaign. The Cavaliers travel to New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly (New Berlin, IL) to play the Vipers in a non-league challenge on Monday, January 31. The Vipers come into the challenge with a record of 23-4. New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly won 65-59 in their recent non-league challenge against Prairie Central (Fairbury, IL)
Next up, the Piasa Birds play the Mt. Olive Wildcats (Mt. Olive, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 29. Southwestern will attempt to improve on its 7-14 season record. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a 0-14 record after their 51-26 league loss to Tri-City/Sangamon Valley (Niantic, IL).
