Thornwood Thunderbirds (South Holland, IL) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Hansberry Bengals (Chicago, IL), 72-61 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Thornwood upgrades its record to 9-7 on the season. The Thunderbirds host Kankakee (Kankakee, IL) to clash with the Kays in a Southland bout on Friday, January 6. The Kays go into the bout with a record of 11-3. Kankakee won 81-39 in their recent non-league bout against Clemente (Chicago, IL)

Next up, the Bengals clash with the Harlan Falcons (Chicago, IL) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 4. Hansberry will attempt to upgrade on its 11-5 season record. The Falcons go into the bout with a 4-8 record after their 52-44 league win over Chicago Vocational (Chicago, IL).
