Virginia High School Basketball - Churchland nips Denbigh
January 3, 2025: Newport News, VA 23608 The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Churchland Truckers (Portsmouth, VA) and the host Denbigh Patriots (Newport News, VA), observed Churchland's basketball team edge Denbigh by a margin of 27-21.
The Truckers (2-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Grassfield (Chesapeake, VA). The Grizzlies come into the non-league challenge with a 9-1 record. In their last challenge, Grassfield edged Trinity Episcopal (Richmond, VA), 50-46, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Patriots battle the Kecoughtan Warriors (Hampton, VA) in a Peninsula challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Denbigh will attempt to better on its 1-8 season record. The Warriors come into the challenge with a 1-8 record after their 56-25 non-league loss to Norcom (Portsmouth, VA).
