Connecticut High School Basketball - Classical thwarts New London

January 3, 2026: New London, CT 06320

The crowd at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Classical Purple (Providence, RI) and the host New London Whalers (New London, CT), observed Classical's basketball team knock off New London by a score of 63-52.

The Purple (4-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Portsmouth (Portsmouth, RI). The Patriots come into the Division I challenge with a 3-0 record. In their last challenge, Portsmouth prevailed over La Salle Academy (Providence, RI), 48-42, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Whalers encounter the Killingly Trailbazers (Killingly, CT) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 6. New London will attempt to improve on its 4-2 season record.
