The Cooper Pirates basketball team scored 54 points and held the visiting San Angelo Central Bobcats to 35 in the Pirates non-league triumph on Tuesday.

The Pirates now sport a 16-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cooper for a 5A Region I District 4 contest on Friday, January 7. Cooper will meet a Cougars team coming off a 50-49 non-league win over Stephenville (Stephenville, TX). The Cougars record now stands at 13-9.

The Bobcats (10-8) will now prepare for their contest against Permian (Odessa, TX). The Panthers enter the 6A Region I District 2 contest with a 4-12 record. In their last contest, Permian ran past Midland (Midland, TX), 33-31, in a league contest.
