Tonopah Valley Phoenix (Tonopah, AZ) fans were thrilled Thursday as they observed their soccer team hold off the visiting St. John Paul II Catholic Lions (Avondale, AZ), 3-2 in a league challenge.

Next, the Phoenix face the Heritage Academy Heroes (Laveen, AZ) in a 3A Southwest challenge, on Monday, January 8. Tonopah Valley will attempt to better on its 3-4 season record. The Heroes enter the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 3-0 league loss to Bourgade Catholic (Phoenix, AZ).
