Massachusetts High School Basketball - Pittsfield holds off Mount Anthony
January 5, 2024: Pittsfield, MA 01201 Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Pittsfield Generals (Pittsfield, MA) and the visiting Mount Anthony Patriots (Bennington, VT), saw Pittsfield's basketball squad hold off Mount Anthony by a tally of 52-47.
With the victory, Pittsfield improves its record to 6-3 on the campaign. The Generals host Taconic (Pittsfield, MA) to confront the Thunder in a Suburban - North challenge on Monday, January 8. The Thunder come into the challenge with a record of 4-2. Taconic won 81-32 in their recent league challenge against West Springfield (West Springfield, MA)
Next up, the Patriots confront the Mt. St. Joseph Academy Green Wave (Rutland, VT) in a Southern Vermont - A challenge, on Tuesday, January 9. Mount Anthony will attempt to improve on its 3-6 season record. The Green Wave come into the challenge with a 3-6 record after their 63-24 non-league loss to Mt. Abraham (Bristol, VT).
Game Summary
Malachi Perry scored 18 points to lead three Pittsfield players in double figures Friday as the Generals beat Mount Anthony of Bennington, Vt., 52-47.
Pittsfield jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter, when Nunu Brown scored nine points.
It was a 29-15 margin at half-time before the Patriots were able to chip away.
Makai Shepardson scored 15 points, and Brown finished with 15 in the win.
Carter Thompson scored 16 for Mount Anthony.
Pittsfield (6-3) goes to the Boys and Girls Club on Monday to play Taconic.
