The Weddington Warriors (Matthews, NC) basketball nipped the visiting South Mecklenburg Sabres (Charlotte, NC), 36-34 in Friday's non-league test.

The Warriors (7-1) will now prepare for their test against Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC). The Pirates go into the non-league test with a 0-3 record.

The Sabres now own a 8-4 record. They play next when they host Myers Park for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 10.
