Pennsylvania High School Basketball - Our Lady of the Sacred Heart overwhelms Avella
January 6, 2024: Avella, PA 15312 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chargers (Coraopolis, PA) and the host Avella Eagles (Avella, PA), saw Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's basketball squad wallop Avella by a count of 54-16.
With the victory, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart upgrades its record to 8-5 on the campaign. The Chargers travel to East Allegheny (North Versailles, PA) to play the Wild Cats in a WPIAL 3A 2 challenge on Monday, January 8. The Wild Cats come into the challenge with a record of 0-10. East Allegheny lost 47-12 in their recent league challenge against South Allegheny (McKeesport, PA)
Next up, the Eagles play the Geibel Catholic Gators (Connellsville, PA) in a WPIAL 1A 2 challenge, on Thursday, January 11. Avella will attempt to upgrade on its 2-10 season record. The Gators come into the challenge with a 9-3 record after their 59-43 league win over Mapletown (Greensboro, PA).
