The Perquimans Pirates basketball team scored 40 points and restricted the visiting Oscar Smith Tigers to 26 in the Pirates non-league victory on Saturday.

The Pirates now sport a 11-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Washington County for a 1A Four Rivers contest on Tuesday, January 9. Perquimans will battle a Panthers team coming off a 56-51 non-league loss to Northampton County (Gaston, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 4-2.

The Tigers (5-4) will now prepare for their contest against Churchland (Portsmouth, VA). The Truckers come into the non-league contest with a 0-9 record. In their last contest, Churchland dropped by Lakeland (Suffolk, VA), 44-24, in a non-league contest.
