January 7, 2022: Lufkin, TX 75901 Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Lufkin Panthers (Lufkin, TX) and the visiting Rusk Eagles (Rusk, TX), saw Lufkin's basketball squad overcome Rusk by a tally of 63-49.
With the victory, Lufkin improves its record to 17-2 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Madisonville (Madisonville, TX) to play the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Monday, January 10. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 16-2. Madisonville won 42-41 in their recent non-league challenge against Navasota (Navasota, TX)
Next up, the Eagles play the Hudson Hornets (Lufkin, TX) in a 4A Region III District 17 challenge, on Friday, January 14. Rusk will attempt to improve on its 6-13 season record. The Hornets come into the challenge with a 17-7 record after their 60-49 non-league win over Huntsville (Huntsville, TX).
