Iowa High School Basketball - North Polk holds off Mt. Vernon
January 7, 2023: Alleman, IA 50007 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the North Polk Comets (Alleman, IA) and the visiting Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA), saw North Polk's basketball squad hold off Mt. Vernon by a tally of 54-47.
With the victory, North Polk improves its record to 6-2 on the campaign. The Comets host Boone (Boone, IA) to confront the Toreadors in a Raccoon River challenge on Tuesday, January 10. The Toreadors come into the challenge with a record of 5-6. Boone lost 60-26 in their recent league challenge against Gilbert (Gilbert, IA)
Next up, the Mustangs confront the Clear Creek-Amana Clippers (Tiffin, IA) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 10. Mt. Vernon will attempt to improve on its 6-3 season record. The Clippers come into the challenge with a 3-5 record after their 80-59 non-league loss to West Delaware (Manchester, IA).
