New Jersey High School Basketball - Payne Tech can't hold off West Essex
January 7, 2023: Newark, NJ 07107 The West Essex Knights basketball team scored 44 points and restricted the host Payne Tech Lions to 42 in the Knights non-league victory on Saturday.
The Knights now sport a 5-1 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Cedar Grove for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 10. West Essex will battle a Panthers team coming off a 45-33 non-league loss to Millburn (Millburn, NJ). The Panthers record now stands at 0-6.
The Lions (1-6) will now prepare for their contest against Glen Ridge (Glen Ridge, NJ). The Ridgers come into the non-league contest with a 8-0 record. In their last contest, Glen Ridge edged Nutley (Nutley, NJ), 47-28, in a non-league contest.
